Camps benefit from ACA/U.S. Forest Service memorandum of understanding.


The American Camping Association and the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Service signed a Service-wide Memorandum of Understanding A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is a legal document describing a bilateral or multilateral agreement between parties. It expresses a convergence of will between the parties, indicating an intended common line of action and may not imply a legal commitment.  in December.

The two groups propose to work together to achieve a common goal of increasing public awareness and knowledge of camp opportunities, programs, and projects that may be planned and accomplished on national forest land.

ACA ACA - Application Control Architecture  affiliated camps will benefit from the memorandum through the use of Forest Service land resources Noun 1. land resources - natural resources in the form of arable land

In the memorandum,

ACA agrees to:

* Encourage affiliated camps to query local Forest Service units about potential work projects and encourage them to cooperate in addressing those projects.

* Encourage affiliated camps to participate in Forest Service planning activities.

* Coordinate periodic ACA participation in meetings of Forest Service field personnel to familiarize them with the ACA mission and encourage appropriate partnerships.

* Work with the Forest Service to develop the Children's Forest designations on Forest Service land.

* Promote "Leave No Trace, Tread Lightly" and other minimum impact programming by accredited accredited

recognition by an appropriate authority that the performance of a particular institution has satisfied a prestated set of criteria.

* Encourage ACA participation in forest management development plans.

* Encourage local Forest Service units to inform ACA affiliates of potential work projects.

* Explore development of current and future Children's Forest designations on Forest Service property.

* Participate as appropriate with ACA in environmental education programs.

* Encourage and facilitate appropriate use of national forest land by ACA and accredited camps.
