Campbell up for one more award.

Byline: NOTEBOOK By Andrew Greif For The Register-Guard

Although Katy Campbell's final season at George Fox ended last March, the former Thurston girls basketball star will be earning more recognition for her career well into next month.

The 6-foot-1 Campbell was an All-American for the Bruins and a four-year letterwinner who helped the Newberg school to a record 25 victories last season and into the NCAA NCAA

"It was really neat to know I was picked as one of the top athletes in Oregon," Campbell said. "It feels really good. People can actually see how much time and dedication you put into the sport."

Such fame is nothing new for Campbell, who was named George Fox's women's athlete of the year last season by its booster club.

She was surprised with the nomination, nonetheless, said her father, Glen Campbell.

"She was ecstatic," Glen Campbell said. "She's worked very hard for it."
