Campaign to create awareness among masses about population to be launched in Punjab, says Neelam.

LAHORE, November 17, 2009 (Balochistan Times): The Minister Population Welfare Punjab, Neelam Jabbar Ch. has said that in order to provide health, education, sanitation, safe & clean drinking water and other civic amenities to every citizen of the country we have control the rapidly growing population, therefore, a comprehensive awareness campaign will be launched in the province. Hence, every citizen including community leaders, teachers, elected representatives and Ulema should play their due role in this social service. She said that during current fiscal year, Rs. 59.72 billion would be spent on the social sector from developmental program which is the 46% of our ADP, so that to upgrade the socio economic status of the people of the province. She said that despite financial constraints Rs.175 billion has been allocated for annual development programme, whereas, Rs.12 billion would be spent on development activities in health sector during current financial year. She expressed these views while addressing the members of NGOs, LHVs and LHWs. The Minister said that focus of the provincial government is upon Primary and protective healthcare so that to achieve the millennium development goals (MDGs). Neelam Jabbar Ch. said that welfare centres would be established at the villages comprising three thousand population villages and skilled birth attendants, LHVs and LHWs would be appointed at these centres because the MMR in LHWs covered area is 147/100,000 live births, compared 300 to 350/100,000 to uncovered areas, therefore, the LHWs, LHVs and the community midwives were being appointed at all the health centres in remote areas. She told that the Population Welfare Department is providing services regarding family welfare purposes through 1497 family welfare centres, 117 mobile service units, 2604 mail mobilizers, 54 birth centres and a large number of LHWs. She said that present democratic set up has been restored in result of scarifies & struggle of shaheed Benazir Bhutto, leadership and workers of PPP. She said that the President Asif Ali Zardari is the symbol of federation and a new era of political & economic stability had been ushered in during his President-ship whereas, constitutional & democratic institutions would become stronger. She said that under Zardaris instructions the government has launched public welfare-oriented projects i.e. Benazir Income Support Programme for deserving people, Benazir Green Tractor scheme for small farmers, short and long term Water & Power Projects, free of cost partnership for workers in more than 80 official and Semi official entrepreneurs, ensured the independence judiciary and mass media. She said that peace has been restored in Swat Malakand and FATA due to the best policies of President Asif Ali Zardari. In a statement, Neelam Jabbar Ch. said that supremacy of parliament had been ensured and peoples problems would be solved on priority basis whereas, harmony among the masses of the provinces would be made stronger. The democratic forces are united, democracy is strong, people are aware of constitution & rule of law therefore, all the political forces should work for the supremacy of parliament & law and strengthening of democratic institutions, she added. Neelam Jabbar Ch. said that Pakistan itself is the victim of the terrorism & extremism and is fighting against terrorism its own war with full commitment. She said that the present regime took over the government in very critical geo-political and economic circumstances, however, due to the effective measures adopted by the government, the law and order situation is being improved subsequently. She said now the political forces of the country should come forward and support the national agenda on which Asif Ali Zardari forwarding glowingly. Today the political leaders have admitted that President Asif Ali Zardari is a courageous personality having political wisdom, She concluded.
