Campaign launched to save ape; WILDLIFE.

ZOO HAS used the birthday of a giant silverback gorilla to launch a campaign to recycle mobile phones.

Kibabu - a 210kg western lowland gorilla - had his 32nd birthday party at Taronga Zoo Taronga Zoo is the city zoo of Sydney officially opened on October 7th, 1916. It is located on the shores of Sydney Harbour in Mosman. Along with Dubbo's Western Plains Zoo, Taronga is managed by the Zoological Parks Board of New South Wales.  in Sydney, Australia, munching on sugar-free vegetable cupcakes.

And yesterday's bash marked the launch of the They're Calling On You campaign, urging people to recycle old mobile phones in a bid to minimise the destruction of gorilla habitat through mining.

Distinguished primatologist Dr. Jane Goodall opened the campaign at Melbourne Zoo in October, and now the campaign has been launched nationally.
