"We are extremely encouraged by the corporate and community support that has quickly joined our effort to make this a reality for the Kent community." The board of directors for the public/private partnership is presently reviewing site options. Campbell said they hope to announce a preferred location, and recommend the city purchase the site, in the near future. Civic and business groups have long complained about the need for meeting space in the Kent, Renton and Auburn valley. For the arts community, the facility will provide a needed venue for quality regional events. Co-chairman Patricia Curran said a high quality performance center is the most hidden need in the Kent community. She noted that the Kent Arts Commission has a mailing list of more than 5,000 people who want to be informed about the arts and theatre. "Not everyone wants to drive to Seattle to see top quality performances," Curran said. "We are large enough to attract performances. All we need is someplace some·place adv. & n.
