E[acute accent]CaminoSoft's StandbyServer v6.5 for NetWare provides reliable and economical failover and data protection for Novell NetWare 4X, 5X, and 6X servers. StandbyServer is a hardware-independent high-availability solution that connects a standby machine to one or more primary servers. Data mirrored between the two servers creates a redundant system that protects users from both hardware and software failures. The solution includes support for IP, IPX (Internetwork Packet EXchange) The network layer protocol in the NetWare operating system. Similar to the IP layer in TCP/IP, it contains a network address and allows messages to be routed to a different network or subnet. , or mixed environments. E[acute accent]Neil Murvin, Chief Technology Officer at CaminoSoft, stated, "CaminoSoft's StandbyServer for NetWare maintains fully synchronized volume replicas, including eDirectory and the identity vault. A single StandbyServer can work from a shared storage pool or a mirrored storage replica of each configured primary Nsure Identity Manager or other NetWare server. If a primary server's disk storage fails but the server stays "alive," the primary server takes control of the mirrored replica on the standby server and continues providing user services. If the primary server fails entirely, the standby server detects the failure, fails over, takes on the role of the primary server, and continues providing user services. Users are back on-line in a matter of moments with complete access to their data, Novell Directory Services See NDS.  (NDS See eDirectory.
