Cameron set to take heartlands.

The Tories are now four points ahead of their rivals in the North of England England, the largest and most populous portion of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (1991 pop. 46,382,050), 50,334 sq mi (130,365 sq km). It is bounded by Wales and the Irish Sea on the west and Scotland on the north. , on 35% support to 31% for Labour.

The figures - compiled by the Financial Times by analysing a range of recent polling data - will make uncomfortable reading for Gordon Brown as he prepares for an awkward party conference next week.
