Louisiana Telco to Deliver Compelling Bundle of Digital TV,

High-speed Internet See broadband.  and Voice Services

Metro-Optix announced today that Cameron Communications, LLC (Logical Link Control) See "LANs" under data link protocol.

LLC - Logical Link Control
, has deployed Metro-Optix's CityStream multi-service provisioning platform to provide ATM switching and SONET transport to complete their full service offering of cable-competitive digital TV, high speed Internet, and voice services. Using a combination of the end-to-end ATM capabilities from Metro-Optix and Next Level's Full Service Access Platform, Cameron Communications can provide a breadth and quality of services that is unmatched in the telecommunications industry while substantially lowering their overall service delivery costs.

Cameron Communications, LLC, was founded in 1928. They have been on the cutting edge for over 75 years, providing technology to communities where no other companies would. This spirit has led Cameron to achieve an impressive list of firsts. In 1958, they placed into operation the nation's very first dial mobile telephone service, then became the first to install digital microwave in Louisiana in 1973. Later, they installed Louisiana's first digital central office switch offering touch-tone and special custom calling features. Cameron Communications has completed a fiber optic loop through Cameron Parish in Southwest Louisiana, offering broadband services for tele-medicine, distance learning and interactive services. Cameron continues to be a leader in technology serving subscribers throughout six telephone exchanges in Southwest Louisiana, and this new offering of voice, video and data is just another example of their pioneering spirit.

Cameron will roll-out the deployment of their triple play offering throughout 2003, beginning with customers in Hackberry hackberry: see elm. , La. Metro-Optix and NextLevel equipment together allows telcos to combine entertainment content with data and voice to provide a service bundle over the "last mile" of copper that extends to subscribers' homes and businesses.

"Together, CityStream and Next Level's Full Service Access Platform enable us to continue to fulfill our mission which is to provide the most efficient communication service products while maintaining our standard of excellence. This solution allows us to use our embedded facilities to provide our rural subscribers with traditional voice services, digital video and high-speed Internet access all over a single copper pair. The Metro-Optix/Next Level offering allows us to keep our commitment to our customers by providing a proven, superior, leading-edge solution for the latest services. We can now offer services that are the envy of any operator in the nation, no matter what size," said Kenny Prejean, Network Facilities Manager for Cameron Communications.

"Cameron Communications is realizing the economic advantages that the integration of ATM switching and SONET transport functionality brings to the table when bundled voice, video, and data are offered over existing twisted pair A thin-diameter wire (22 to 26 gauge) commonly used for telephone and network cabling. The wires are twisted around each other to minimize interference from other twisted pairs in the cable (Alexander Graham Bell invented this and was awarded a patent for it in 1881). . Metro-Optix is excited to be a part of this deployment that allows Cameron's rural customers to be on the leading-edge in high-quality communications and entertainment services."

and ATM switching functionality into one platform to give an economic advantage to a triple play application. Its ATM aggregation and transport capabilities fit nicely with Next Level's Full Service Access Platform to provide a significant reduction in CapEx and OpEx for the inter-office and core components of an end-to-end broadband network. Metro-Optix products serve metropolitan access and transport networks for carrier, service provider, and enterprise applications. In addition to SONET ADM and ATM switching, the CityStream 5000 can provide wideband and broadband cross-connect functionality and is architected to migrate to IP/MPLS IP/MPLS Internet Protocol/Multi-Protocol Label Switching  in the future.
