Cameras to film violence in the home; KINGS HEALH.


POLICE are to wear video cameras to the scene of every domestic violence incident they are called to in a new crackdown.

Specially trained officers from Kings Heath Kings Heath is a suburb of Birmingham, England, three miles south of the city centre. It is the next 'village' south from Moseley on the Alcester Road. The central shopping area runs along the High Street and Alcester Road, and the shops include branches of national chain stores,  will provide an immediate response to domestic abuse calls with a dedicated response vehicle.

They will use video recordings to capture injuries sustained by victims and the actions of the offender when they arrive.

It is hoped the recordings will prove useful in so-called victimless prosecutions, where they haul offenders to court even if the victim refuses to assist police.

The experts will also identify high risk offenders and use anti-social behaviour order-style conditions to control their behaviour.

, from Kings Heath police, said: "This particular time of the year can see an increase in the number of domestic abuse-related incidents.

"We are hoping that with this campaign we can raise awareness of this issue, and provide a secure support network for victims.

"As part of this, we will obtain recordings of 999 calls following an offence. We find offenders who initially deny any wrongdoing give us a different story once they hear the recorded voice of their victim calling for help."
