Camelot chief executive hits jackpot with [pounds sterling]1.8m pay day.

CAMELOT chief executive Dianne Thompson has hit the jackpot with [pounds sterling]1.8m pay and bonuses.

The head of the national lottery operator last year earned [pounds sterling]1.07m in salary, a rise of 11pc in a year, plus a [pounds sterling]792,000 'integration' payout pay·out

Thompson was instrumental in delivering a licence win and her bonus, which relates to a different financial year to the job cuts, was linked to upgrading the lottery.

Camelot says she achieved specific targets that included replacing the entire network of lottery terminals on time, a transition to the third licence and the introduction of a new IT system, which all went to plan.

It said annual bonuses have also been paid to all Camelot employees because the privately owned firm hit its sales and profitability goals.

It posted a 3.6pc increase in annual sales to [pounds sterling]5.1bn - its best sales performance in ten years.

Thompson is also set to announce the firm's consultancy business is close to winning a second contract. Camelot Global Services, its newly launched independent company, is expected to be appointed as a consultant to the Illinois State Lottery A game of chance operated by a state government.

Generally a lottery offers a person the chance to win a prize in exchange for something of lesser value. Most lotteries offer a large cash prize, and the chance to win the cash prize is typically available for one dollar.

Separately, investment bank Rothschild is about to send out its long-awaited sale document for Camelot after four of its five shareholders said they were interested in selling their stake.
