Cambridge University honours Nobel laureate Amartya Sen.Byline: ANI London, June 13 (ANI): Nobel laureate Amartya Sen was conferred the honorary Doctor of Letters Doctor of Letters (Latin: Litterarum doctor; D.Litt.; or Litt.D.) is a university academic degree. In the United Kingdom, Australia, and certain other countries, the degree is a higher doctorate, above the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D. degree by the University of Cambridge. The degree was conferred on him on Friday by Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh Noun 1. He is currently the Thomas W. Lamont Thomas William Lamont, Jr. (September 30 1870 – February 2 1948) was an American banker. Lamont was born in Claverack, New York. He graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy in 1888 and earned his degree from Harvard University in 1892. University Professor and Professor of Economics and Philosophy at Harvard University. His books have been translated into more than thirty languages. He is a trustee of Economists for Peace and Security.
