), a leading client/server systems integrator, today announced the availability of KnowledgeShare, a unique technology solution to help clients capture, apply, and share internal knowledge, using the open communications capabilities of the Internet and the World Wide Web. KnowledgeShare represents a new milestone for CTP in the implementation of advanced Internet solutions, while also laying the foundation for client organizations to leverage emerging Internet capabilities, such as interactive communications and electronic commerce.

CTP's KnowledgeShare uses the open interface of the Internet to help clients develop and manage an enterprise-wide knowledge repository on their internal web sites, or "Intranets," which create a community for users to build and share professional competencies and leverage best practices. KnowledgeShare breaks down traditional departmental and geographical boundaries in an organization by providing users across the enterprise with quick and easy access to company and customer information acquired over time, from virtually any working environment.

"Leveraging knowledge can effectively increase an organization's value to its customers and the productivity of its employees," said Bob Gett, president, CTP North America North America, third largest continent (1990 est. pop. 365,000,000), c.9,400,000 sq mi (24,346,000 sq km), the northern of the two continents of the Western Hemisphere. .  their most valuable knowledge and use it strategically to achieve competitive advantage. Increasing the flow of knowledge in an organization compresses the time required to execute strategic business functions, such as customer proposals or resolving problems."

KnowledgeShare uses the open environment and pervasiveness of the World Wide Web to centralize critical internal data of any format, including text, graphics, video, and software, within a secured knowledge repository. During a one-week intensive workshop, Cambridge Technology Partners will work with clients to help them identify corporate-wide knowledge strategies for disseminating and categorizing information, and then to transfer the skills needed to maintain a robust KnowledgeShare knowledge repository and enable the organization's re-use of critical data.

KnowledgeShare can be effectively integrated as a key component of customer management systems. By equipping sales and service representatives with instant access to critical customer data from any location, KnowledgeShare strengthens customer interaction capabilities and expedites the fulfillment of customer orders and requests.

"The Internet presents a wealth of business opportunities that we've only begun to tap into," said Gett. "While traditional groupware and document management applications can provide a measurable return on investment, they often restrict users with proprietary standards Specifications for hardware and software that are developed and controlled by one company. Proprietary standards are technically de facto standards such as Microsoft's Windows and Intel's x86 chip family. Contrast with open standards.  and incompatible systems. KnowledgeShare enables us to hurdle these obstacles through an easy, open environment where anyone in an organization has access to the same stored information, regardless of their location or working environment."

Designed and tested exclusively by CTP, the KnowledgeShare technology consists of an Intranet framework, a World Wide Web home page, a flexible knowledge repository, and a training workshop. Using the easy, transparent interface of the World Wide Web, KnowledgeShare integrates CTP's leading edge document management software as the back-end data storage and search engine.

CTP's intensive five-day workshop empowers clients to build and maintain their own customized internal repository and manage the knowledge sharing process. Through both informational lectures and hands-on training, clients also learn how to identify and categorize corporate information for the knowledge repository and manage and secure access to the application. Each client walks away with a complete working pilot of KnowledgeShare that can be instantly implemented within their organization. Clients will be able to then rollout KnowledgeShare to their base of users as quickly as they want.
