Cambridge SoundWorks Exceeds Expectations for Toys For Tots Program.Business/Technology Editors NEWTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 23, 1999 Cambridge SoundWorks, manufacturer of affordably-priced consumer electronics products has deemed the Toys for Tots Toys For Tots is a program run by the United States Marine Corps Reserve which donates toys to children whose parents cannot afford to buy them gifts for Christmas. The program was founded in 1947 by Major Bill Hendricks. Holiday Toy Drive, sponsored by the United States Marine Corp Reserves, a huge success. All twenty-seven Cambridge SoundWorks retail stores located in Northern California and New England participated in the program which was supported by sport celebrity appearances and on air radio ads on the East and West coasts. To date Cambridge SoundWorks has raised over $75,000 in toys and cash for the United States Marines program which provides toys to needy children throughout the nation at Christmastime. According to Sid Newman, Director of Marketing for Cambridge SoundWorks, "This is our first year supporting the Toys For Tots charity and we're extremely grateful for the generosity of our customers and the group effort of our sales staff who worked hard to make this program a success. We have established a benchmark for this year and hope that next holiday season we can top that figure as well." To promote the toy drive, Cambridge SoundWorks teamed up with radio stations and sport celebrities on both coasts to help publicize the program. WAAF WAAF abbr.
