: SBC), today announced an agreement in which a Cambridge subsidiary will acquire the SecurityLink unit of Ameritech Corporation, a subsidiary of SBC.

The transaction has been approved by the boards of directors of the two companies. The closing of the transaction is subject to review by the Federal Communications Commission Federal Communications Commission (FCC), independent executive agency of the U.S. government established in 1934 to regulate interstate and foreign communications in the public interest.  and the Department of Justice.

SecurityLink provides security monitoring services to more than one million residential, commercial and government customers throughout North America.
