Cambodia hosts rubber conference.


Asean Rubber Conference 2007, The 3rd Conference & Exhibition, featuring global market forces and developments in the natural and synthetic rubber synthetic rubber: see rubber.  industries, including present and future trends, sponsored by NextView Sdn. Bhd., is being held June 14-16 at the Intercontinental Phnom Penh Phnom Penh (nŏm pĕn, pənŏm`) or Phnum Penh (pənm`), city (1994 est. pop.  in Cambodia.

Session 2 on "Consumption trends of NR and SR in Asia's largest economies" will be chaired by Hidde Smit. Presentations will include: "Strengths and opportunities in the Indian rubber industry," Sajen Peter, Rubber Board of India; and "China's competitive edge in the NR and SR industries," Chen Ke Xin, Ministry of International Trade & Logistics, China.

Session 3 on "Developed and emerging rubber producers: Current scenario and future challenges" will be chaired by Christie Robert. Presentations will include: "Contribution of R&D to the development of the Malaysian Rubber Industry," Kamurul Baharain Basir, Malaysian Rubber Board The Malaysian Rubber Board (MRB) is the custodian of the rubber industry in Malaysia. Established on 1 January 1998, it has under its fold three agencies (RRIM, MRRDB and MRELB), which are now merged into one. ; "The Thai rubber industry and its role in regional cooperation," Sang Udomjarumani, International Rubber Consortium Ltd., Thailand; "The natural rubber industry in the Philippines," Emmanuel F. Session 4 on "Rubber price outlook for 2007/2008: Technical and fundamental perspectives" will be chaired by R.K. Matthan. Session 5 on "Managing risks under fluctuating rubber prices" will be chaired by Daryl Guppy. Presentations will include: "The growing role of the natural rubber futures market futures market, a commodity exchange where contracts for the future delivery of grain, livestock, and precious metals are bought and sold. Speculation in futures serves to protect both the developers and the users of the commodities from unfavorable and unpredictable  in Southeast Asia," Chong Kim Seng, Joint Asian Derivatives Exchange, Singapore; "Are hedge fund hedge fund, in finance, a highly speculative, largely unregulated investment device.
