Continuous monitoring of cyanide levels along the Essequibo river from Omai to Parika has shown that a health threat to human and aquatic life from this poison do not exist any longer. The Ministry of Health would therefore like to advise the public that it is now safe to enter the water of the Essequibo River, to bathe, to dive and swim, to dredge, to transport logs, and to catch and consume fish.
