Cambior Announces its Production Results for the Third Quarter of 1999.

During the third quarter of 1999, Cambior produced 150,200 ounces of gold at an estimated cost of $217 per ounce compared to 156,900 ounces at $222 per ounce in the third quarter of 1998. The Company also produced 18,600 tonnes of zinc, 1,600 tonnes of copper and 287 tonnes of niobium niobium (nīō`bēəm), metallic chemical element; symbol Nb; at. no. 41; at. wt. 92.9064; m.p. about 2,468°C;; b.p. 4,742°C;; sp. gr. 8.57 at 20°C;; valence +2, +3, +4, or +5.  during the third quarter of 1999 as compared to 16,900 tonnes of zinc, 1,400 tonnes of copper and 283 tonnes of niobium in the third quarter of 1998.

For the first nine months of 1999, Cambior produced 463,000 ounces of gold, compared to 468,200 ounces for the corresponding period of 1998. Total zinc production during the first nine months of 1999 was 51,100 tonnes and total copper production was 5,600 tonnes. Cambior's share of production from the Niobec mine was 868 tonnes of niobium.
