Calvert Social Index Announces New Membership List.BETHESDA, Md. -- Today, Calvert released the reconstituted membership list for the Calvert Social Index The Calvert Social Index is a stock market index created by the Calvert Group as a benchmark of large companies that are considered socially responsible or ethical. It currently consists of 468 companies, weighted by market capitalization, selected from approximately 1,000 of the (TM). The new list of holdings will be available on Monday, September 18 on Calvert's Web site at http://calvert.com/sri_calvertindex.html. The annual Calvert Social Index reconstitution is effective at the close of business on Friday, September 15, 2006. The reconstitution has produced 641 component companies. The new Index will have an average market capitalization Market Capitalization A measure of a public company's size. Market capitalization is the total dollar value of all outstanding shares. It's calculated by multiplying the number of shares times the current market price. This term is often referred to as market cap. of approximately $11.49 billion. As of September 13, 2006, the four largest sectors in the new Calvert Social Index are Financials followed by Information Technology, Health Care, and Consumer Discretionary.
