Calum: No big buys in Dee future.

DUNDEE won't be going on a player spending spree on the strength of new director Calum Melville's cheque book.

The Aberdeen-based oil tycoon has already made a cash injection and will put more money in over the summer but there will be no significant funds for manager Jocky Scott.

Self-confessed Aberdeen fan Melville, who joined the board after applying to an advert for new directors, has been quoted as having a fortune of around pounds 100million but his personal worth is significantly less.

The 40-year-old is happy to have linked up with his second favourite team. He said: "I have already put some money into Dundee and will give more. But I certainly won't be doubling the player budget.

"Obviously we want to get the club back into the SPL and will be doing all we can to make that happen but fans should not expect big signings or us to be splashing money around.

"I've met with the manager and am completely behind him. Jocky is a wily old fox and his record since joining the club again is plain for everyone to see."
