India's Largest Free Private Internet Service Provider Will Deliver Unified Messaging, Fax-Over-IP and Migration to Voice-over-IP Services

3Com Corporation (Nasdaq:COMS), an industry leader in supplying access infrastructures and Internet protocol (IP) services platforms to service providers around the globe, announced today that Caltiger.com, the largest free private Internet service provider (ISP) in India, is using the 3Com(R) CommWorks(R) solution to introduce new enhanced IP services to more than 300,000 subscribers. Unified messaging, IP-based fax and migration to IP-based telephony are among the services that will be introduced in Caltiger.com's network over the next nine months. The deal is worth $15 million (US), with the first phase of network enhancements scheduled for immediate implementation.

Caltiger.com Expects Three-fold Growth in Subscribers This Year

Caltiger.com operates India's largest free private Internet service and currently has more than 300,000 subscribers. By the end of the calendar year, Caltiger.com expects its customer base to surpass 1 million subscribers and its network to reach 100 cities across India.

Caltiger.com currently uses the 3Com Total Control (R)1000 multiservice access platform for dial-up Internet access for its subscribers. With the agreement announced today, Caltiger.com will add new 3Com products to its nationwide network, including:

--  CommWorks 8250 unified messaging system for universal inbox
    capabilities for voice, fax and e-mail messages;

--  CommWorks 8200 IP fax server for store-and-forward fax, fax
    broadcast, fax-to-email and never-busy fax services;

--  Total Control 1000 platform to enable migration to voice-over-IP
    services, which will allow subscribers to make domestic and
    international telephone calls at competitive rates; and

--  Total Control 100 gigabit routers, which reliably power
    Caltiger.com's nationwide enhanced services IP backbone and
    gateways.
