antiallergic adjective Countering allergy or an allergic state property. Specifically, the Laboratory has confirmed that L-92 can induce interleukin 12 (IL-12) and inhibit the excessive activity of Th2 immune cells.
Further, L-92 has a property to induce the apoptosis of excessive Th2 immune cells. Th2 is a kind of immune cell involved in allergy. Allergy is developed when the balance between Th1 and Th2 is disrupted.
Details of these findings were presented at the 1st General Meeting of the Japanese Association for Food Immunology on November 9 and 10. Going forward, Calpis will proceed with research on L-92 regarding applicability to various allergic symptoms including atopic dermatitis.
