He is best known in Scotland and the UK for his work on many TV shows. Biography Born in 1964, John grew up in the Ralston district of Paisley, Renfrewshire. reckons it's a work in progress, but to the untrained eye his fab house on the outskirts of Glasgow looks perfect. The Right At Home columnist gutted his 1960s-built villa when he bought it five years ago - and the result is a contemporary home that screams 21st century elegance. But John still has big plans. He said: "I''m extending up and out on all sides. I want to have a bar area coming off the living room. I want to create another bedroom and I'm going to extend the kitchen further into the garden. It's a big job, but it will be fantastic when it's finished." John, star of ITV's 60 Minute Makeover, is happiest when working on a project. This final stage of works at his home will complete the renovations he began when he moved in back in 2003. He's already transformed the main living area with a gorgeous open-plan lounge and new kitchen, maintaining the feeling of openness, with huge sliding glass wall sections between the rooms. The sleeping quarters also have the wow factor. John said: "I wanted to create a real sanctuary in the bedrooms. Although each of them is very different, they all have quite a calming feel to them. "I have family and friends who come to stay quite a lot so I wanted them to feel as though they had a real haven to stay in when they were here. I think it's worked really well." The master suite is a split-level affair. "Blue is going to be very big in interiors next season and I might add some in here simply by swapping the bedding and cushions. It's an inexpensive way of making a room look different." In the first of the guest bedrooms, John has gone for a relaxing all-white scheme that mixes futuristic textures with a retro vibe. The grand 5ft x 4ft faux leather headboard behind the bed sets the scene for the whole room. John drew up the design for the focal point focal point n.
