Calm down, Enzo, Craig's 'Mr Nasty' act is just light entertainment.AT THE very real risk of incurring the terrible wrath of Mr Enzo Calzaghe, let me say just one thing to him: "For goodness' sake, amigo, lighten up." This week, I was obliged to take the mean machine into the autumnal mists of the rural Vale of Glamorgan where I met Craig Revel Horwood Craig Revel Horwood (born 1967) is an Australian dancer, choreographer, and theatre director in the United Kingdom. Born in Ballarat, Australia, Horwood started his career as a dancer in Melbourne, then moved to London to take advantage of the greater opportunities available , one of the acerbic judges on the BBC's Strictly Come Dancing Come Dancing is a BBC TV ballroom dancing competition show that ran on and off from 1949 to 1998, becoming one of television's longest-running shows. The show was created by Eric Morley, the founder of Miss World, and began in 1949 by broadcasting from regional . Mr Revel Horwood has been particularly damning of the performances given by our very own Joe Calzaghe Joe Calzaghe (born 23 March, 1972 in Hammersmith, London England) is a Welsh boxer of Italian and Welsh descent, who is nicknamed "The Pride of Wales". He currently lives in Cwmbran, Wales, and is one of the pound for pound top 10 boxers in the world according to the Ring Magazine. . His biting comments have, to say the least, upset Joe's father, Enzo, pictured left, even though everyone whose views I have sought have confirmed that Joe simply cannot dance. Just before I left for my rendezvous with Mr Revel Horwood, I was furnished by my newsdesk with a series of comments Enzo made about him. He accused the judge of "bullying" his boy and invited him into the ring for a bout so that he could "knock him out". Alternatively, Enzo threatened to throw a sack of tomatoes at Mr Revel Horwood. At first, I thought he was joking. But no, it turned out he was deadly serious. I put his comments to Mr Revel Horwood as we sat in a school near Cowbridge. He took them in his stride, without rancour and with a certain sense of humour Noun 1. sense of humour - the trait of appreciating (and being able to express) the humorous; "she didn't appreciate my humor"; "you can't survive in the army without a sense of humor" sense of humor, humor, humour . Mr Revel Horwood is a dream for journalists and, I would imagine, chat show hosts. One only has to ask the semblance of a question and he launches into a lengthy, detailed and entertaining answer that provides excellent copy. He knows exactly what he is doing and what is expected of him. He also knows that Strictly Come Dancing is light Saturday night television entertainment. If he sometimes has to be the "Mr Nasty" he takes on the role with gusto and, I suspect, with his tongue in his cheek. As a champion boxer, Joe Calzaghe knows how to take the knocks and roll with the punches. Perhaps Enzo should learn to do the same. |
