Calls for a new and improved heart plan.

A LOCAL heart support group is calling for new backing to ensure that heart patients remain the highest priority for the health service.

Brighouse-based CREW are calling on people to sign a petition demanding a new and improved heart plan for people who have been affected by the disease.

The disease affects 2.2 million people in England - more than any other country.

CREW spokesman John Tudor said: "You can't fight the UK's biggest killer without a plan of action.

"We need a new heart plan otherwise the progress that has been made in recent years could simply disappear."
