 Metals Corp. is pleased to announce that it has appointed Gavin Becker to the position of president and chief executive officer.

Sydney, Australian born, Gavin Becker obtained a B.Sc.(Eng) Honours Degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the Royal School of Mines (London) in 1974.

Following graduation he worked for two years in production at Nehanga Consolidated Copper Mines' Broken Hill Division at Kabwe, Zambia.

Moving to South Africa in 1976 he was involved in the development and application of the carbon-in-pulp-process for the recovery of gold at laboratory, pilot and demonstration plant scale, whilst working at the National Institute for Metallurgy (now Mintek).

He then worked at Davy McKee S.A. as process engineer responsible for the design of South Africa's first committed full scale CIP (1) (Common Isochronous Packet) The packet format used in time-based (real time) FireWire transmission. See FireWire, IEC 61883 and mLAN.

Returning to Australia in 1980, Gavin worked for Western Mining Corporation in various roles on the Yeelirrie Uranium Project, and at WMC's Kwinana Nickel Refinery and Kambalda Nickel Operations.

He joined Dominion Mining Ltd. in 1986 as manager of Dominions first gold mine at Cosmo Howley in the Northern Territory returning to Perth in 1989 as Group Metallurgist.

For the past six years he has been responsible for all aspects of Dominion's Yakabindie Nickel Project. Becker will take up his appointment in Brisbane before the end of the year.

Subject to regulatory approval, the company has granted employee incentive stock options to two executive officers to purchase, in aggregate, up to 575,000 shares of the company exerciseable in stages over one year and eighteen months respectively (and immediately in the event of the acquisition by a single party or group of a majority of the shares of the company) at a price of 90 cents per share Cents per share
