No longer challenged by any of the ultra-events? A hundred miles just doesn't seem like much anymore? Then here's the challenge you've been looking for--how about 6,356 miles? The summer of 2000 launched the American Discovery Trail The American Discovery Trail is a coast-to-coast hiking and biking trail across the mid-tier of the United States. It starts on the Delmarva Peninsula on the Atlantic Ocean and ends on the northern California coast on the Pacific Ocean, and is signed on over 6,800 miles of trail , which is the first coast-to coast, no-motor trail. It crosses 15 states and the District of Columbia District of Columbia, federal district (2000 pop. 572,059, a 5.7% decrease in population since the 1990 census), 69 sq mi (179 sq km), on the east bank of the Potomac River, coextensive with the city of Washington, D.C. (the capital of the United States).  from Cape Henlopen State Park Cape Henlopen State Park is a Delaware state park on  acres ( km) on Cape Henlopen in Sussex County, Delaware, in the United States. William Penn made the beaches of Cape Henlopen one of the first public lands established in what has become the United States in 1682 with , Delaware, to the Golden Gate Bridge Golden Gate Bridge, across the Golden Gate from San Francisco to Marin Co., W Calif.; built 1933–37. Its overall length is 9,266 ft (2,824 m); its main span across the strait, 4,200 ft (1,280 m), is one of the longest bridges in the world. Joseph B.  in San Francisco, California, passing through 16 national forests, Pike's Peak, gold mining towns and 10,000 other points of historical and cultural interest. If you decide to run the whole thing, you won't be the first; a few diehards have already tackled it. But, in our view, it would still be newsworthy.
