"With more than 100 million viewers annually and over one million live event attendees, professional bull riding provides a unique platform to reach a large segment of the American public. We are seizing this opportunity to reach an audience that needs to hear our message and become empowered to take control of their healthcare."

Theragenics(TM), a leading provider of brachytherapy ("seeding") devices for prostate cancer treatment, including TheraSeed(R), is the first company in the healthcare industry to sponsor professional bull riders. Response to a pilot ad campaign and appearances by TheraSeed(R) spokesman Owen Washburn in 2004 exceeded the Company's expectations in support of its patient education and marketing efforts.

Professional Bull Riders Speak Out

Washburn and Akin will provide information regarding prostate cancer treatment in cities throughout the U.S. in conjunction with the PBR's Built Ford Tough Series tour. Theragenics(TM) also will launch an advertising campaign in key cities to complement this grassroots effort.

Owen Washburn joined the professional bull riding circuit in 1993 and quickly established his reputation for consistency, reaching the ultimate goal of professional bull riders when he captured the 1996 PBR World Championship title.

"It's important for men to know about their options," Washburn said. "Men like me can't afford not to work for weeks or months at a time. I want to let them know about proven treatment options, like TheraSeed(R), that will get them back to their daily routine as soon as possible."

TheraSeed(R) provides cure rates comparable to surgery, yet may offer men a better chance for quality of life. The minimally invasive outpatient procedure offers faster healing times than surgery and has a lower risk of complications, such as incontinence and impotence impotence (im`pətəns), inhibited sexual excitement in a man during sexual activity that, despite an unaffected desire for sex, results in inability to attain or maintain a penile erection. .

Lee Akin, the top-ranked African-American bull rider on the PBR circuit, has been a professional bull rider for more than seven years. As a multiple qualifier in the PBR World Finals, he has won nearly 20 championship titles throughout his career including three PBR titles in 2003 and 2004.

"Being part of this awareness campaign is especially important to me," Akin said. "African-American men are at a higher risk of developing prostate cancer and it often strikes at an earlier age. I hope I can make a difference in someone's quality of life through my work with TheraSeed(R)."

Blue ribbons - designating prostate cancer treatment awareness will be handed out to fans at Built Ford Tough Series events in 2005. In addition, Theragenics(TM) will donate one dollar for every blue ribbon distributed to the first 150,000 spectators (a commitment of $150,000) to the Resistol Relief Fund, a non-profit fund established by the PBR to provide medical and financial aid to athletes who are injured in bull riding competition.

Theragenics(TM) is a prominent advocate of the need for men to understand all clinically proven options, when making their treatment decisions. The Company played a lead role in securing Congressional adoption of both Senate and House resolutions in 2004, encouraging doctors to inform patients of all proven treatment options, including brachytherapy.

"Prostate cancer affected about 230,000 men and caused an estimated 29,900 deaths in 2004," said Jacobs. "We hope to reach men and their loved ones whose lives will be impacted by this disease.
