Sorenstam won the Weetabix Women's British Open The Women's British Open, also known for sponsorship reasons since 2007 as the Ricoh Women's British Open, is a leading event in women's professional golf and the only tournament which is classified as a major by both the Ladies European Tour and the LPGA Tour.  yesterday, completing a career Grand Slam in women's golf -- meaning she has now won each of the circuit's four major events, including the Nabisco Championship, the McDonald's LPGA Championship and the U.S. Women's Open. . Starting the final round in fourth place, Sorenstam coolly shot a round of 2-under-par 70 to finish the tournament at 10 under par. She had just one bogey over the final 38 holes and parred the final nine holes to preserve her victory. Sorenstam sealed the victory on the final hole, hitting a long, straight drive that set up a solid two-putt par for the win, her fourth of the year. "I was contemplating hitting a 7-wood left, making the hole long but safer," Sorenstam said. "But then I figured, 'You know, I have a chance to win. I can hit this drive right down the middle and have a short iron in -- and I can win the championship.'"
