NUMBER whizz Carol Vorderman Carl Vorderman MBE (born 24 December 1950 Bedford [1]) is a Welsh television personality best known for being a long-standing co-presenter of Channel 4 game show Countdown. She was awarded an MBE in June 2000.  is urging people to nominate their unsung heroes.

Now in its 11th year, the Pride of Britain Awards 2009 is the biggest event of its kind in the UK and one of the highest-rated awards shows on TV.

Carol, who has hosted the awards since they started in 1999, said: "I've been honoured to be a part of Pride of Britain since day one.

"Every year, I'm humbled by the nominees' incredible stories and delighted to see so many famous people want to recognise their incredible achievements.

"I'm sure that this year, with the Co-operative inviting nominations in more stores than ever, we will meet some even more extraordinary, truly deserving winners.

"There are unsung heroes in every community who deserve recognition."

All winners will be honoured at an awards dinner in London's Park Lane in October 2009.
