Call staff jobs joy.


HUNDREDS of sacked call centre workers are being offered their jobs back after the company who laid them off landed a major contract.

HEROtsc shed 200 staff, closing their office in Greenock Greenock (grēn`ək, grĭn`–, grĕn`–), city (1991 pop. 58,436), Inverclyde, W Scotland, on the Firth of Clyde. Greenock is a port, and shipping and shipbuilding are major industries. , Renfrewshire Renfrewshire or Renfrew, former county, central Scotland. Under the Local Government Act of 1973, Renfrewshire became (1975) part of the Strathclyde region, but in 1996 that region was dissolved and the council areas of Renfrewshire and East , when client T-Mobile moved work to the Philippines earlier this year.

But staff are now being told their jobs have been saved and the office reopened as a result of a deal with TV giant Sky. HEROtsc chief executive David Turner (person) David Turner - Professor David A Turner. One of the pioneers of functional languages. He designed several languages, including, SASL (1976), KRC (1981), and Miranda, many of which were implemented using combinators and the S-K reduction machine which he defined.  said: "It was a sad day when we had to tell staff there was no work.

"We said we would work round the clock to bring new business here and that's what happened."

The firm said further work for Sky will mean another 170 jobs for their Falkirk operation.
