The Fundamental Research Committee, Robinson College, Cambridge Cambridge, city, Canada Cambridge (kām`brĭj), city (1991 pop. 92,772), S Ont., Canada, on the Grand River, NW of Hamilton. It was formed in 1973 with the amalgamation of Galt, Hespeler, and Preston, all founded in the early 19th cent. , U.K., has issued a call for papers for the thirteenth Fundamental Research Symposium symposium In ancient Greece, an aristocratic banquet at which men met to discuss philosophical and political issues and recite poetry. It began as a warrior feast. Rooms were designed specifically for the proceedings. at Robinson College, Cambridge, on September 11-16, 2005. The theme for the symposium will be, "Advances in Paper Science and Technology" and the committee is seeking extended abstracts from scientists and engineers working in all fields of fiber and paper science and technology relevant to paper manufacture and end-use. Session themes will be identified at a late stage of program development in order to ensure that potential contributors submit papers on the widest range of appropriate subjects. Abstract submission deadline: October 1, 2004.
