There are seven categories of awards:

2. Best Investigative Reporting An investigative report is a document that is meant to provide information on a certain topic that is not easily obtained. It is meant to present the reader with a wealth of easily understood information and usually contains an interview or two on the subject.

5. Best Financial-Advisory Newsletter

6. Best Single-Topic Newsletter

7. Best Looseleaf loose´leaf`   

adj. 1. having rings that open and close permitting insertion and removal of pages; - of notebooks and binders and the paper used in them; as, a looseleaf notebook;
 Publication.

Within each category, a First, Second, and Third Place winner may be chosen, in addition to possible Honorable Mentions. The David Swit Journalism Prize of $500 will be awarded to each First Place winner.
