Leading technology companies and individuals to be recognized

on January 21, 2004 at the W Hotel City Center

The Chicago Software Association is accepting nominations through December 5th, for its 10th annual awards and member recognition event, CityLIGHTS 2004: Leadership, Innovation and Growth in High Technology. Five separate awards will be presented to the winners at this 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. breakfast and networking event with keynote speaker on January 21, 2004, at the W Hotel City Center at 172 W. Adams W. "The CityLIGHTS annual awards are a celebration of past successes, current achievements and future initiatives of technology companies, executives and advocates making a significant impact in the Chicagoland business and technology communities," said Candy Renwall, executive director of the Chicago Software Association.

About the five awards:

-- CityLIGHTS Award

Given to an individual, this award recognizes a business,

education, media or government leader whose efforts on behalf

of the information technology industry have best promoted its

growth and/or awareness of its vitality in Chicagoland. Scott

Glickson, of Gordon & Glickson was awarded the CityLIGHTS in

2002.

-- Lighthouse lighthouse, towerlike structure erected to give guidance and warning to ships and aircraft by either visible or radioelectrical means. Lighthouses were long built to conform in structure to their geographical location. Until the beginning of the 19th cent.  Award

The Lighthouse Award is presented to the CSA (1) (Canadian Standards Association, Toronto, Ontario, www.csa.ca) A standards-defining organization founded in 1919. It is involved in many industries, including electronics, communications and information technology.  member company

-- Rising Star Award

The Rising Star Award is presented to the CSA member company,

which, through innovation in products, services or business

approach, is emerging from its start-up phase to become a

solid presence in the marketplace. Cognitive Concepts was last

year's winner.

-- Spotlight Award

The Spotlight award is awarded to an individual, such as a CIO CIO: see American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations.

-- Angel Award

This award is presented to an individual that has contributed

to the economic development of Chicagoland's technology

community by attracting new capital, investing in or loaning

capital to local technology companies. In addition, the award

winner will have demonstrated through their volunteer work, a

commitment to the growth of early stage companies in the

community. Bob Geras of LaSalle Investments, Inc. was the 2002

recipient of the Angel Award.
