Business Editors

SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 7, 2004

Puget Sound Puget Sound (py`jĕt), arm of the Pacific Ocean, NW Wash., connected with the Pacific by Juan de Fuca Strait, entered through the Admiralty Inlet and extending in two arms c.  Business Journal announced today a call for nominations for its sixth annual 40 Under 40 award program, which spotlights the next generation of business leaders -- individuals with an entrepreneurial spirit, who are under the age of 40 and who have made a difference in the Puget Sound region through their business and community involvement.

The application for this awards program is available online at www.40under40seattle.com and is due to Puget Sound Business Journal no later than Tuesday, July 6.

Nominees are evaluated on specific criteria that include how long they have been in business, company revenues, business philosophy and how they handled their most difficult business decision. In the end, judges look for individuals who, on a personal level, go the extra mile in giving back to the community. Throughout the years, a few patterns have emerged in past honorees:

-- Most show their entrepreneurial spirit at a very early age.

Some consider the tooth fairy their first benefactor. Some set

up corner lemonade stands and some bought and resold candy at

a profit in their grade schools. Nearly half spent their teens

learning the art of sales.

-- Most demonstrate great devotion to their family. They list

social outreach programs, education and the arts.
