AMBULANCE chiefs are being asked for their guidelines on overdose victims who refuse treatment.

North Tyneside North Tyneside is a metropolitan borough of Tyne and Wear in the North East of England. Its seat is at the Town Hall, Wallsend.

Created in 1974, the borough lies within the historic county boundaries of Northumberland.
 coroner Eric Armstrong was concerned after hearing how Darren Redshaw died on the doorstep of a hostel, hours after he refused treatment from paramedics.

Mr Redshaw was seen walking around Whitley Bay drinking from a bottle of methadone methadone (mĕth`ədōn', –dŏn'), synthetic narcotic similar in effect to morphine. Synthesized in Germany, it came into clinical use after World War II. It is sometimes used as an analgesic and to suppress the cough reflex.  in the early hours of June 27.

An ambulance was called but when paramedics arrived, the 2-year-old refused treatment and signed an exemption form.

A verdict of accidental death was recorded.
