over Democratic nominee Phil Angelides Philip Nicholas "Phil" Angelides (IPA: æn.dʒε.'lid.ɪs) (born June 11, 1953 in Sacramento, California), is a California politician who was California State Treasurer and the unsuccessful Democratic nominee for Governor of California in the 2006 elections. . In this volume, Rarick (director, Center on Politics, U. of California at Berkeley) presents the results of a conference convened by the Institute of Governmental Studies at the U. of California at Berkeley that brought together, as in earlier conferences, consultants and staff members who ran the campaigns together with pollsters, political journalists, and political scientists to analyze the results of the election and their meaning. The proceedings include two panel discussions on the basic political structure of the state, polling information on the nature of the electorate and voters' reactions to the 2006 campaign, and campaign specific analyses of the primary season and general election.
