That was 16.9 percent more than the 1,589 home buyers named Garcia who bought a home in the state in 1994, Dataquick Information Systems reported.

The Smiths and Garcias were followed in home buyer frequency by people with the last names Johnson, Lee, Rodriguez, Lopez and Hernandez (see chart), the real estate information service reported.
