). The cash awards are part of Democratic Gov. Gray Davis's 2000 Aging with Dignity Initiative, which awarded Quality Award Certificates to 104 facilities meeting the compliance criteria; of those facilities, 44 will share in the $4.2 million--up to $1,500 per employee--being distributed by facilities among nonmanagement staff. Only facilities with at least 60% of residents dependent on Medi-Cal qualified for cash awards.

A CAHF spokeswoman says the government has not yet determined whether the program will continue next year.
