A total of 22,107 newly incorporated businesses were formally registered with the Secretary of State during the first five months of this year (see chart). "There are several different factors that lead to growth in new businesses. At this point in the business cycle California's growing economy is clearly the reason for the increase," said Rick Rozar, CDB president. The current growth in business filings varies widely from county to county.
