California School for the Blind Receives Computer Donation from Pacific Bell Wireless; Three Hundred Sixteen Computers Presented in Honor of White Cane Day.


FREMONT, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 15, 1999--

 delivered a donation of 316 computers to the California School for the Blind The California School for the Blind is a public educational institution for blind children, K-12, located in Fremont, California. Its campus is located next to the California School for the Deaf.  today.

The donated computers will be used with Braille translation devises, magnified screens and voice recognition programs, by students and school officials.

. Today's donation coincides with White Cane A white cane is used by many people who are blind or visually impaired, both as a mobility tool and as a courtesy to others. Not all modern white canes are designed to fulfill the same primary function, however: There are at least five different varieties of this tool, each  Day, a presidential Proclamation issued every October 15, since 1964.
