California Retirees' System Goes Live with Unisys Solution; Customized Solution Uses FileNET to Improve Customer Service to 1.3 Million CalPERS Members, Eliminates Mountains of Paper.

Unisys Corporation (NYSE:UIS) announced the successful deployment of FileNET's Panagon suite of products within the California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS).

This go-live for the country's largest retirement system is the most extensive use by Unisys of FileNET products within a state government. The CalPERS solution includes imaging, workflow and report management software.

In the move from a paper-based to an electronic imaging-enabled record retrieval system, more than 800 CalPERS employees used the new system for the first time June 24. The FileNET package will streamline customer service, reduce transaction cost, enhance access to documents and provide opportunities for future e-government initiatives by allowing immediate access to images of member files.

For more than a decade, Unisys has successfully delivered alliance partner FileNET's applications to the federal government. The FileNET solution is the only enterprise product offering capable of meeting CalPERS' stringent architectural requirements, including an HP-UX infrastructure.

CalPERS provides retirement and health benefit services to more than 1.3 million members and nearly 2,500 employees. The largest institutional investor of its type, CalPERS also is the largest retirement system in the United States and the second largest in the world.
