California Real Estate Inspection Association Installs New Officers.


SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 1, 1999--

The California Real Estate Inspection Association CREIA – California Real Estate Inspection Association.

CREIA is a nonprofit education & credentialing organization to benefit consumers and professionals primarily in California.

), a non-profit organization A non-profit organization (abbreviated "NPO", also "non-profit" or "not-for-profit") is a legally constituted organization whose primary objective is to support or to actively engage in activities of public or private interest without any commercial or monetary profit purposes.  representing the property inspection industry statewide, recently installed its 1999-2000 officers.

Founded in 1976, CREIA provides education, training, and support services support services Psychology Non-health care-related ancillary services–eg, transportation, financial aid, support groups, homemaker services, respite services, and other services  to the public and real estate inspection profession. CREIA is a non-profit corporation headquartered in San Diego San Diego (săn dēā`gō), city (1990 pop. 1,110,549), seat of San Diego co., S Calif., on San Diego Bay; inc. 1850. San Diego includes the unincorporated communities of La Jolla and Spring Valley. Coronado is across the bay. , with 15 local chapters throughout the state serving over 800 members.

Al Virtue will be serving as the organization's president. Virtue is also the president of Virtue Inspections Consulting of San Diego and has served as a director on CREIA's board since 1996. For the past three years he has chaired CREIA's very successful Spring Conference. Prior to that he served as the San Diego chapter president, and as that chapter's secretary from 1994-1995.

He holds the prestigious CPI (1) (Characters Per Inch) The measurement of the density of characters per inch on tape or paper. A printer's CPI button switches character pitch.

 (Certified Professional Inspector) designation and was honored with the organization's Inspector of the Year Award and the San Diego Chapter President's Award The President's Award may mean:
  • Gaisce - The President's Award, Republic of Ireland
  • NAACP Image Award - President's Award, United States
  • Rashtrapati Award - Award given by the President of India (Rashtrapati is Hindi for President)
 in 1997. He is dedicated to fostering growth in the profession and the association.

The new vice president/president-elect is Jack Gironda of Chatsworth, Calif. Gironda has served on the board since 1997 as its secretary and as the Ethics Chair. He is the owner/president of Preferred Home Inspection, which services the Los Angeles/Ventura County. Also one of CREIA's CPI members, Gironda was honored with the CREIA President's Award in 1998.

Making his second consecutive appearance as secretary is George Harper of CREIA's Orange County Chapter. George is the owner of California Inspection Agency in Long Beach. New to CREIA's executive board roster this year, in the position as treasurer, is Jim Turner of Turner & Associates in the state's Inland Empire area. Both officers gained leadership experience through serving at their local chapters and by holding state chair committee positions with CREIA.

The elected executive officers also include three director-at-large positions representing the northern, central and southern areas of the state. Making his third consecutive appearance on the executive board is Jim Ronan of Sherlock Homes Real Estate Inspection Services in northern California.

Representing the central chapters is John St. George, CPI, a leader in the LA/Ventura County Chapter and president of California Construction Consultants. The southern CREIA chapters are the responsibility of Dennis Parra II, of San Diego's Parra Building Consultants.

The executive officers also include immediate past president Scott Clements, vice president of San Ramon-based Inspectech Corp. Clements is also a CPI and has served as CREIA's president for two terms. Members of CREIA must successfully complete entrance examinations, adhere to a strict code of ethics Code of Ethics can refer to:
