In addition to leading California Pacific Medical Center, Dr. Brotman is a board-certified internist and gastroenterologist and a senior vice president of Sutter Health. Over the years, Dr. Brotman has held numerous positions at California Pacific Medical Center, including chair of the Department of Medicine, Chief of Gastroenterology, and director of the Division of Education. He is a past treasurer of the AGA, past chairman of the American Digestive Health Foundation, and past chairman of the Subspecialty Board on Gastroenterology of the American Board of Internal Medicine The American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) is a non-profit, independent physician organization in the U.S. that certifies physicians who practice in internal medicine and its sub-specialties. . His work has been published numerous times in the scientific literature.
