California Micro Devices Intensifies its Marketing and Sales Efforts with Addition of European Office.

MILPITAS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 14, 1999--

AM&T Assumes Position as Marketing and Sales Arm for

California Micro Devices in United Kingdom

California Micro Devices Corporation (Nasdaq:CAMD) announced today the appointment of Applied Marketing and Technology (AM&T) as the European extension of its Marketing and Sales Divisions, headquartered in Milpitas.

AM&T is chartered with managing marketing and sales efforts for California Micro Devices throughout Europe, including Scandinavia, Israel, and South Africa. David Sherwood, Managing Director for AM&T will assume the title of General Manager, Europe, for California Micro Devices. In this position, Sherwood and his staff will operate on behalf of California Micro Devices from their office in Bristol, England.

Established in 1987, Sherwood and his staff bring California Micro Devices many years of technical experience and are particularly skilled at marketing and sales activities within the European environment. Former clients include Digital Equipment Corporation, Actel, Anchor Chips, and AMI, whose semiconductor business AM&T is largely credited with establishing and growing throughout Europe.

Initial efforts by AM&T will place particular emphasis on those activities that will result in design wins for California Micro Devices' products through its current distribution network. Sherwood and his staff will work closely with these 15 individual locations to identify target market opportunities throughout Europe.

"Recently, California Micro Devices created a similar extended marketing and sales structure for sales efforts of its products in Asia (see press releases dated January 14 and June 14, 1999). The creation of a similar structure in Europe will tap the extensive opportunity for California Micro Devices products in this strong, telecommunications oriented market," explained Chuck Bellavia, Vice President of Marketing and Sales for California Micro Devices.

"California Micro Devices enjoys an excellent relationship with its many distributors throughout Europe. This relationship will be further enhanced with the sales management and market development that AM&T will provide," Bellavia ended.

Headquartered in Milpitas, California Micro Devices designs, manufactures and markets integrated thin film, silicon-based termination, filtering, and active electronic circuitry.

Built in ISO 9000-registered quality system environments, California Micro Device's products target the requirements of computer, networking, and communication-based customers for smaller, high density devices that operate at high frequencies with superior performance and functionality.
