MILPITAS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 15, 2001

Single Chip Solution for Keyboard / Mouse Port With the Highest

Level of ESD (1) (Electronic Software Distribution) Distributing new software and upgrades via the network rather than individual installations on each machine. See ESL.  Protection

In Brief...

-- Single package provides keyboard / mouse port termination, EMI
        filter, and transient overvoltage protection

-- In-system electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection to 30kV
contact discharge per IEC 61000-4-2 Level 4 international
        standard

-- Compact SOT23-6 saves board space and lowers manufacturing
costs when compared to discrete solutions

Using CAMD's patented P/Active(R) technology, this device provides EMI (ElectroMagnetic Interference) An electrical disturbance in a system due to natural phenomena, low-frequency waves from electromechanical devices or high-frequency waves (RFI) from chips and other electronic devices. Allowable limits are governed by the FCC.  / RFI (Radio Frequency Interference) High-frequency electromagnetic waves that emanate from electronic devices such as chips.

61000-4-2 Level 4 international standard. The PACKBME is able to protect the computer system from accidental damage caused by ESD to 30kV contact discharge.

The PACKBME device terminates the 2 data lines for the keyboard or mouse port and is a low cost, single chip solution. CAMD's technology is silicon-based and its quality and reliability matches that of today's integrated circuits. By integrating resistors, capacitors, and diodes on silicon, this device achieves termination, filtering and ESD protection of a keyboard / mouse port. The integration of all these components provide significant savings in cost and board space while enhancing the system's performance. The PACKBME is available in a compact, surface-mount SOT23-6 package.

Pricing for the PACKBME in 10K quantities is $0.30. Samples are available now. Production lead-time is 10 weeks ARO.

Headquartered in Milpitas, California, California Micro Devices designs, manufactures and markets integrated thin film, silicon-based termination, filtering, and active electronic circuitry. Built in ISO (1) See ISO speed.
