California ISO Continues Pitch for Conservation as State Enters 17th Day of Stage Three.

FOLSOM, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 31, 2001

Thursday, February 1st has been declared a Power Watch Day by the California California (kăl'ĭfôr`nyə), most populous state in the United States, located in the Far West; bordered by Oregon (N), Nevada and, across the Colorado River, Arizona (E), Mexico (S), and the Pacific Ocean (W).  Independent System Operator (California ISO (1) See ISO speed.

Thursday's peak demand on the ISO-controlled Grid is expected to reach 30,864 megawatts at approximately 6 p.m.

Power Watch is a public awareness campaign sponsored by the California ISO to communicate the current electricity resource outlook, in light of the rising demand for power in California. By providing regular updates on system conditions and peak demand forecasts, the California ISO hopes to convey the importance of using electricity wisely on days when electricity reserves may run low.
