Founded in 2004 by Carol Emmott and Barbara Anderman, executives with Russell Reynolds Associates, a global executive search and assessment firm, CHLC helps to fill health care institutions' leadership-development void by providing hospital and health systems leaders the opportunity to develop the "soft" skills vital to success in top leadership roles, such as the capacity to influence, develop and manage effective teams.

"The budget-driven removal of layers from hospital management has limited new executives' professional development," said Barbara Anderman. "The Health Leadership College has experienced great success over the past five years in advancing developing executives' leadership abilities. Our partnership with the Center for Creative Leadership allows us to enrich our highly acclaimed ac·claim

CHLC works closely with many expert faculty, including Duane Dauner of the California Hospital Association.

As a testament to the practical and immediate relevance of CHLC, the recent 2008 Fellows rated their leadership development experience in the following areas on a 1 - 5 scale (5 being "highly likely"):

* 5.0 - The likelihood they will use their CHLC leadership experience in their current position

* 4.7 - The likelihood the CHLC leadership experience will positively impact their organization

Founded in 1970, CCL is a nonprofit A corporation or an association that conducts business for the benefit of the general public without shareholders and without a profit motive.

, global leader in executive leadership and organizational development, focusing on assisting clients in cultivating creative leadership through an array of executive development programs, research, assessment and coaching services. Each year, CCL expands the leadership skills of more than 20,000 individuals within 3,000 organizations.

The partnership between the CHLC and the CCL precedes the CHLC's Call for Nominations for Fellows for the 2009 Program, which is scheduled to commence on April 16th, 2009. The Fellowship program will develop leaders throughout the healthcare sector. Most fellows are typically sponsored by their healthcare organizations, and as in years' past, six full-tuition scholarships will be granted through the support of the California HealthCare Foundation this year.
