On Thursday, May 31, at 10 a.m., California First Lady Sharon Davis and guests at five California parks unveiled designated areas for reading, each with a newly-planted tree, benches and a "Readers Welcome" sign. In conjunction with the state-sponsored READ California campaign, these new reading areas have been dedicated as a reminder of the importance of reading and to encourage summer reading among children.
