California Council on Base Support and Retention Will Issue a Military Base Retention and Closure Report on Thursday.


WHAT: The California Council on Base Support and Retention will
          present a Statewide assessment of military sites in
          California and report on base retention strategies.

    WHEN: 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 7, 2005

    WHERE: Room 1190 in the State Capitol

    WHO: Council co-chairs Leon Panetta and Donna Tuttle will brief
         the media on the report, which will be presented to the
         Governor Thursday. Panetta and Tuttle will answer media
         questions.


The 19-member California California (kăl'ĭfôr`nyə), most populous state in the United States, located in the Far West; bordered by Oregon (N), Nevada and, across the Colorado River, Arizona (E), Mexico (S), and the Pacific Ocean (W).  Council on Base Support and Retention, appointed by the Governor in November November: see month.  to advise the state and local communities on the federal Base Realignment and Closure Base Realignment and Closure (or BRAC) is a process of the United States federal government directed at the administration and operation of the Armed Forces, used by the United States Department of Defense (DoD) and Congress to close excess military installations and realign  (BRAC Brač (bräch), Ital. Brazza, island (1991 pop. 13,824), 152 sq mi (394 sq km), off the Dalmatian coast in the Adriatic Sea, Croatia. It is a popular summer resort and tourist spot. Supetar (Ital. ) process, conducted six field hearings around the state to gather information from communities about local retention efforts, and to compile To translate a program written in a high-level programming language into machine language. The Council held three subsequent meetings to analyze the data and devise strategies for the state and local communities in the BRAC process.
