California Clean Tech Open: Call for Cleantech Startup Competitors.


Competition Entry Deadline is June 30, 2007

SAN FRANCISCO San Francisco (săn frănsĭs`kō), city (1990 pop. 723,959), coextensive with San Francisco co., W Calif., on the tip of a peninsula between the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay, which are connected by the strait known as the Golden  -- The California Clean Tech Open (CCTO CCTO California Clean Tech Open (business plan competition) ), the USA's richest cleantech business plan contest, is calling all early-stage clean technology companies to compete for prizes each worth over $100,000 in six categories: Smart Power; Air, Water & Waste; Green Building; Transportation; Renewables and Energy Efficiency.

Each winner in the six categories will receive a "$100,000 Start-Up in a Box" prize package that includes all of the business essentials necessary to help take your idea from a concept to a business. The prizes include:

$50,000 cash from one of the category prize sponsors:

AMD (Advanced Micro Devices, Inc., Sunnyvale, CA, www.amd.com) A major manufacturer of semiconductor devices including x86-compatible CPUs, embedded processors, flash memories, programmable logic devices and networking chips.  - Smart Power Prize

Lexus - Transportation Prize

PG&E, SCE SCE (in Scotland) Scottish Certificate of Education

Additional services for all finalists include a comprehensive entrepreneur summer workshop series sponsored by the U.S. DoE, Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy The United States Department of Energy´s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) mission is to strengthen America's energy security, environmental quality, and economic vitality in public-private partnerships. ; mentoring services; a sustainability starter kit; opportunity to pitch a panel of experts in your category with live feedback; taking part in a finalist showcase at the October awards event; inclusion in the CCTO Finalist Directory and a one-year, two-seat subscription for Adaptive Planning's Enterprise Edition, an essential budgeting and forecasting tool.

Entering the competition is straightforward. Simply submit a three-page executive summary of your idea at www.cacleantech.com before June 30, 2007. We even provide a template to help you along.

There is an entry fee of $250 per team, which is reduced to $150 if your team is comprised entirely of full-time students Full-Time Student

A status that is important for determining dependency exemptions. An individual enrolled in a post-secondary institution may be eligible for certain tax breaks.

Notes:
The full-time status is based on what the individual's school considers full time.
